Time to read books

I have been visiting Chennai bookfair since 2001 (It was at Quaid-E-Millath Government College for Women). I started this with my UG classmates and somehow I manage to go there every year. It is been two visits per year since 2008. And this year, I had two wonderful days spent at St George's Anglo-Indian School. I bought lots of books (My wife didn't scold me!), perhaps I don't need to buy any books for one more year.

I'll be sharing these books with friends once I finish reading them.

My Surprise:
  • I didn't buy any Osho or J Krishnamurthi books.
  • Visited the Muslim book stall, for the first time.
  • The amount spent.
  • The Famous Five book, I wanted to buy it whenever I saw it, didn't buy after seeing this in almost every shops. None of my friends told me about this book.
Disappointment:
  • I couldn't buy something special for my four year old niece.
  • Tired of looking for "Fooled by Randomness" and "Freakonomics"
  • As usual, no good stalls for Christian books.
  • Chetan Bhagat books everywhere

    I never buy books by looking at the cover design and I rarely buy "Tamil Kavithai" books. I bought this book without reading, for the beauty of its design.

Good habit and great collection of books.
We are all thought to read more books right from our childhood. Only few follow that thanks to spoilers like satellite tv and social networking sites.
Don't forget to write your views about each book. Looking forward to hear more from you.

New Year Resolution 2015

The Kite Runner

Usually, I buy and read book suggested by my friends but no one suggested me to read the book "The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini". I neither heard about it before I accidentally bought it. I was looking for the books I planned to buy in the Chennai Bookfair 2011 and I found this book . There was something attractive, though it was not as beautiful as of many of the books cover design, it should be the cover of it, because all I could see was only the book cover. I took it in my hand and asked myself, should I buy this?, yes was the answer and I bought it. I completed reading this book last week, after keeping it the shelf for almost 2 years. I am glad I got this book. It is one of best books I read in the recent years. The phrase " For you, a thousand times over " lingering in the mind is the proof that I really enjoyed reading this book and moved so much ;) " I became what I am today at the age of twelve, on a frigid overcast day in the winter of 1975 ...

December Rain - 4

I can query a bit, question a little more, but I don't go any further. I stay with no question at a point where I know I can attempt an inch deeper but I stop there to make myself comfortable and letting all that needs to be questioned and answered be God. Why do people get old, struggle to live and yet no courage to die? Even the divine Soul trembled and cried on the cross in spite of knowing that He would get the eternal of it. Such is the greatness of addiction to this life, the feel of everyday's incompleteness and the longing for the tomorrow. Of course, the breathing of an old man may take a bunch of viruses from the air and save few kids from getting infected. I mean, there is a reason for everything.  For me, the "cigarette smoking causes cancer" shown before the movie is one of the most annoying advertisements - it is ugly.
