New Year Resolution 2015

Another new year, another (same!) set of new year resolutions.

I wanted to read Thirukural and set target 50 last year but couldn't achieve it. But then I used one Kural in my every blog post.

New Year Resolution List:
For year 2016, I should shorten it to at least 1/3 of this list. At least, make it more readable ;)

Reading Books:
Book reading is going to be reduced this year. I am planning to reread few of the books I read last year. Of course, will find time to read books suggested by friends. I have got Bhagavad Gita tamil version from my friend and might read this before the end of 2015. I Am Malala, The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ, Mossad, 'The Madman, The Forerunner, Spirits Rebellious', Yudhargal Varalaarum Vaazkaiyum, If You Meet The Buddha On The Road Kill Him are few of the books I enjoyed reading. By the way, I have changed the FB album title from "Books I read" to "Books I read - Not To Be Shared" ;)

Accounting:
How difficult it is to track everything! Anyway, I did this year too (powerd by Zoho Reports :) ). Here is the detail (without major ones like loan paid!)
2014 Accounts Analysis
Write, Speak:
  • No real writing - that is not my area. Writing is very difficult for me :(. At least, I am thinking of improving my handwriting. Yeah, once again the 4 lines notebook ;)
  • I should learn speaking to people ;)
  • I guess I know Tamil and English alphabets. I am planning to learn one more this year.
Health:
Another lovely year on this. Apart from the sore throat I had for a week, there was nothing. No doctor, no tablets... The weight touched 75kgs for the first three months and then I got it back in 74kgs range. I will try 72-73 kgs this year which should be very fine for me. I eat a lot, I think it is time for me to stop eating snacks that I am taking just because they are available.

Movies:
Oops... I watched too many of them. The below report shows them (hint: Great=3) ;) I must be very selective in watching Tamil movies. Vizha, Company, Short Term 12, Notting Hill, Ship Of Theseus, Jaatishwer, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Nenjam Marappathillai, Chander Pahar, Gombegala Love, Hawaa Hawaai, Nizhalgal, The Breath, 1Nenokkadine, Muthal Mariyadhai, Animal Farm, Dersu Uzala, Davendeh, Grave Of The Fire flies are some of the movies I can suggest you watching.

Junk Removal:
As usual regular email, address book clean up work (3 failed mails = junk contact). Now I have priority email system (something like gmail's priority inbox) and this works for me. Deleting unused, duplicate files from my hard disk is the toughest job. 240 GB/250 GB is used and I am managing with the remaining 10GB for a very long time. Yet to start working on the flat directory structure. Of course, need to clean my desk at the office ;)

Others:
  • I need to meet one of my college seniors Vijay by this year end, hopefully by January end.
  • I may have to write one book review and movie review this year, yes one for the whole year.
  • Social network - thinking of weekly or monthly update, there might be nothing.
  • I see so many wonderful things and places in my dream that I have never seen in my life. I may start take a note of them.
  • I wish to spend 30 - 60 minutes watching a video or listening something without touching mobile, switching application windows or thinking of anything else. I am going to call this Computer Yoga!

Hi Kovil,

Happy New Year! I think you have a nice list of things to do. Btw, are you planning to learn a new language this year? If so, what is your choice? I guess Mandarin Chinese will be a good choice.

I was actually looking forward to read your new year resolution and when new year hit forgot all about it :( just read it..good one...good to know you are keeping track of expense - not easy - you should probably try to keep a target of reducing the expense by 10% this year :) will be a good exercise..send me your book review when you're done...would love to read it. not much happenin. My Book Shelf - Year 2017

I find it difficult to get this reading order. And I guess it would be still harder to read them without changing the order. I may allow one or two new books to be included in this list, if required. Share book reviews and ratings with Kovil Pillai, and even join a book club on Goodreads.

My Reading List -- 3
