Donkey, Tea and Roses

Have you watched the movie Cast Away? Good one. Part of the movie that shows the companionship between Chuck (hero) and Wilson (volleyball) in a deserted island is very much touching. The point, you don't need a human being to share something, to attach your emotions. It could be a photo of your loved one. It could be a beer bottle. It could be an old book that you don't even open anymore. More than a listener, it is your belief that the other thing is listening to you that matters. May be, half of life's happiness can be achieved by getting a good listener, mere listener, nothing more. Perhaps that is why the pets, the kids all are able to bring those lighter moments. Gardens, surely belongs to those listener category.

We had a small garden with lots of flower plants. My favourite is the Rose. I had spent at least half an hour before I touch the coffee cup in the morning. I had spent at least a minute before I went to playground after the school hours. At times, I pressed my fingers hard on the prickles and enjoyed the few drops of blood. I loved those fresh maroon leaflets. I enjoyed predicting the stems that would bring forth the buds. I loved watching the buds in the moonlight. It was a pink rose. The roses had lots of petals and they were really big. I haven't seen those sorts of roses yet. In fact, we had few visitors because of these roses.

I used to collect used tea dust from the nearby tea stall. I had eggs in my dinner to ensure that I get crushed egg shells. I had walked few kilometers to pick donkey dungs. These things are great fertilizers and worked well even when I didn't know (neither now!) anything about NPK fertilizers. I really enjoyed doing this. If I see 5 - 10 new buds that might blossom forth in the next day, I woke up so early in the morning. It felt so good in those days. Perhaps it listened to me. I listened to it. I was happy. I did see the every phase of its life. It couldn't ;)

I saw the little donkey standing on the middle of the road, equally safe. It looked so beautiful with those lovely roses blooming in my mind.

New Year Resolution 2015

Another new year, another ( same! ) set of new year resolutions. I wanted to read Thirukural and set target 50 last year but couldn't achieve it. But then I used one Kural in my every blog post . New Year Resolution List: For year 2016, I should shorten it to at least 1/3 of this list. At least, make it more readable ;) Reading Books: Book reading is going to be reduced this year. I am planning to reread few of the books I read last year. Of course, will find time to read books suggested by friends. I have got Bhagavad Gita tamil version from my friend and might read this before the end of 2015. I Am Malala, The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ, Mossad, 'The Madman, The Forerunner, Spirits Rebellious', Yudhargal Varalaarum Vaazkaiyum, If You Meet The Buddha On The Road Kill Him are few of the books I enjoyed reading. By the way, I have changed the FB album title from "Books I read" to "Books I read - Not To Be Shared" ;) Accounting: How difficu...

My Book Shelf - Year 2017

I find it difficult to get this reading order. And I guess it would be still harder to read them without changing the order. I may allow one or two new books to be included in this list, if required. Share book reviews and ratings with Kovil Pillai, and even join a book club on Goodreads.
