Your Fingers Your Tunes

Had Gandhi not been present in Champaran, he would have still become a Mahatma. Had Che Guevara not studied Marxism, he would have still become a revolutionary. Had Siddhartha not been born in a palace, he would have still become the Buddha.

Throughout history, countless leaders have risen to greatness. It didn’t matter where they were born, when they lived, or what challenges they faced - they had something inside them that pushed them forward. But why only them? Was it destiny? Were they born with a “greatness gene”? If I told you that was absolutely true, would you believe me? Let us take a moment to dissect this and see why it is not out of your reach.

Imagine this: You are blindfolded and left in a grand hall, much like a child born into this world. Your task? To create tunes. All around you are walls, pillars, tables, curtains, and, yes, a piano. You can create sounds with almost anything. That’s how most of us live, just creating some sounds somewhere, somehow. In fact, many of us even stumble across a piano and manage to produce some tune.

But here is the question, again: Why do only a few tunes become magical? The secret lies in hitting the right keys at the right time, in the right way. When your fingers land on those precise keys, something extraordinary is born - achievement, greatness.

Now, does this mean the key to greatness is simply finding the piano and playing the perfect notes? Not really. A sculptor chiselling a stone can create just as much magic as a musician playing a piano. Let us dig deeper.

The secret to achievement is not in finding the piano; it is in discovering your tune and refining it. For Beethoven, the tune was music. For Michelangelo, it was sculpture. For Mother Teresa, it was helping those in need. And for you? Greatness lies in finding your tune. It originates within you, slowly and steadily, sometimes even without your consciousness, and becomes louder and louder when you listen to it. So, start listening to the hum of your heart. Magic happens when you pour yourself entirely into your tune. That is when your fingers dance across the keys and create a masterpiece.

You must understand that the piano is just a tool, a means to express the melody inside you. Titles like doctor, philanthropist, scientist, poet, musician, politician are all just pianos. The tune is your purpose, your inherent drive - a melody that remains unheard until you bring it to life. Choosing a piano and simply living is a comfortable, but not necessarily fulfilling, path. Life works in all combinations. But, for those who achieve greatness, the “tune” always precedes the “piano.”

Gandhi, Che Guevara, and the Buddha didn’t achieve greatness because they were born with extraordinary genes. They became great because they discovered their tune and pursued it with relentless passion. The truth is that this isn’t something reserved for them. It is achievable for you too. God hasn’t shown favouritism. You hold the same potential as anyone else. You have the keys within you to unlock greatness. It is up to you to activate certain parts of yourself and quiet others. Could God have done this for us? Sure. But perhaps He chose not to because He wanted to create something called “life” in this universe - a life not of perfection, but of growth, discovery, and creation.

Stop endlessly searching for the piano. What you seek is NOT “out there”; it’s inside you. Once you uncover your tune, you can pick or craft your own piano - your own tools and path to greatness. Tune into your tune and take the first step toward creating the masterpiece only you can bring into this world.

The world will recognise the greatness in your tune.

New Year Resolution 2015

Another new year, another ( same! ) set of new year resolutions. I wanted to read Thirukural and set target 50 last year but couldn't achieve it. But then I used one Kural in my every blog post . New Year Resolution List: For year 2016, I should shorten it to at least 1/3 of this list. At least, make it more readable ;) Reading Books: Book reading is going to be reduced this year. I am planning to reread few of the books I read last year. Of course, will find time to read books suggested by friends. I have got Bhagavad Gita tamil version from my friend and might read this before the end of 2015. I Am Malala, The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ, Mossad, 'The Madman, The Forerunner, Spirits Rebellious', Yudhargal Varalaarum Vaazkaiyum, If You Meet The Buddha On The Road Kill Him are few of the books I enjoyed reading. By the way, I have changed the FB album title from "Books I read" to "Books I read - Not To Be Shared" ;) Accounting: How difficu...

The Kite Runner

Usually, I buy and read book suggested by my friends but no one suggested me to read the book "The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini". I neither heard about it before I accidentally bought it. I was looking for the books I planned to buy in the Chennai Bookfair 2011 and I found this book . There was something attractive, though it was not as beautiful as of many of the books cover design, it should be the cover of it, because all I could see was only the book cover. I took it in my hand and asked myself, should I buy this?, yes was the answer and I bought it. I completed reading this book last week, after keeping it the shelf for almost 2 years. I am glad I got this book. It is one of best books I read in the recent years. The phrase " For you, a thousand times over " lingering in the mind is the proof that I really enjoyed reading this book and moved so much ;) " I became what I am today at the age of twelve, on a frigid overcast day in the winter of 1975 ...

New Year Resolution 2013

Though it looks very much similar to the previous years, it is still not the same. My wish list for 2013 :) Very much addicted to the the lovely voice in Um Paadham Panithen , words of God Will Make a Way , music and lyrics of Oru Naalil Vazhkai and the messages of Joel Osteen will continue to listen them, repeatedly.  Hoping to watch lots of videos of Marissa Mayer. Like one of my friends Madhavi, she is very energetic, enthusiastic, quick and inspiring.  It is between 72 - 75 kgs for the past five years and it is fine for me. Though I am less confident about it, hoping to remain in that range.  I should write at least one blog in every month.  I read few good books in 2012 and I should read at least 12 books in 2013 and write a summary of it. Here is the list of books I have (yet to read almost all of them) Unlike last year, after listening to my colleague Muthukumaran , decided to attend the weddings (reception - only if attending the wedding is not pos...
