Refine your love language

COME and GO are the two words that any dog can understand without any hassle. I thought my pet Hansie too had learnt them in a few days. But I was wrong. He stopped responding to it after a few weeks, especially for COME - he would come only when he felt like coming. And that would annoy me very much the same way I get annoyed when the “Hey, Siri” fails to understand the word I say.

WATER was one of the words I taught him with a bit of difficulty. He couldn’t express his thirstiness. He would come running when I went towards the water bowl. I didn’t notice it for a long and I realised it only when I accidentally filled the bowl, and he drank a stomach full of water. That was a heartbreaking moment. Now if I ask WATER and he needs it, he will just walk towards the bowl and I will follow him.

It is so natural that I pay less attention to other things when I use the mobile or watch TV. I mean, not like I wouldn’t feel the earthquake or even the doorbell, just a little less focus. This is when Hansie can hurt me the most. He would sit quietly a few feet away and watch me without taking his gaze away. Knowing that he has been waiting for my attention would really hurt me. The moment I look at him, he will make a ready pose and if I go and rub his head, he will be extremely happy. At that moment, even the “hey, stupid dog!” can make his tail wag stronger and faster as though it can sway left and right easily even if I tie Mount Everest. Pure bliss!

Observe. Understand. The more you love, the more your language gets refined. Because, even the best dictionary words can go meaningless when the heart also engages in the communication. With just a few junk words, with a few signs or even without anything, you can express something exactly the way you intended it to be, as it is just a matter of the other person understanding it. Of course, if you understand the other person too well, that may lead to…

New Year Resolution 2015

Another new year, another ( same! ) set of new year resolutions. I wanted to read Thirukural and set target 50 last year but couldn't achieve it. But then I used one Kural in my every blog post . New Year Resolution List: For year 2016, I should shorten it to at least 1/3 of this list. At least, make it more readable ;) Reading Books: Book reading is going to be reduced this year. I am planning to reread few of the books I read last year. Of course, will find time to read books suggested by friends. I have got Bhagavad Gita tamil version from my friend and might read this before the end of 2015. I Am Malala, The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ, Mossad, 'The Madman, The Forerunner, Spirits Rebellious', Yudhargal Varalaarum Vaazkaiyum, If You Meet The Buddha On The Road Kill Him are few of the books I enjoyed reading. By the way, I have changed the FB album title from "Books I read" to "Books I read - Not To Be Shared" ;) Accounting: How difficu...

My Book Shelf - Year 2017

I find it difficult to get this reading order. And I guess it would be still harder to read them without changing the order. I may allow one or two new books to be included in this list, if required. Share book reviews and ratings with Kovil Pillai, and even join a book club on Goodreads.
