2020: The Year in Review

COVID-19 pandemic is at the top of everything that has happened. Lots of my friends suffered because of it. I am at home since March 2020 and so about 10 months without seeing the outside world. I walk a lot at the work place as well in my commute. It has become zero. I also couldn’t visit gym. Well, that is why I am wondering how I reduced my weight from 78 kgs to 74 kgs.

An equally astonishing thing is how I missed my reading habit. Staying at home with no time spent on anything else, apart from work, should have given me more time. I found no time to read books for several months. In fact, I realised it very late and started reading books again. India After Gandhi is the best read in 2020. I usually don’t prefer to read books over 300 pages, but this one, almost 1000 pages felt like 50 pages. Lean In, The Black Swan, The Five People You Meet in Heaven are few of the books I felt disappointed as I my expectation was high on them.

Section 375, Girmit, Bohemian Rhapsody, Palasa 1978, KD Engira Karupudurai, and Ayyappanum Koshiym are few good movies I watched in the midst of many useless movies in 2020.

Spread of movies that I watched in 2020

My Travel expense has become almost nil and my expense on Pet is on the higher side. Also, I ate lots of Indian sweets in 2020, added them as part of Food expense. I can reduce both in 2021.

My Expense in 2020

Here are the few things that I felt I should do

  1. Resume physical activities.
  2. Wake up early, at least before 06:00 hrs everyday.
  3. This Quotidian from one of my colleagues seem interesting. So, watch it.
  4. The time spent in between two tasks seems more. i.e. wasting some time during task switch. I need to learn to reduce it.
  5. Lost some of my personal data because of not visiting a service for many months. Review all my online accounts (email, social network,…) and activate/deactivate them.
  6. Consider joining classes to improve my English.

New Year Resolution 2015

Another new year, another ( same! ) set of new year resolutions. I wanted to read Thirukural and set target 50 last year but couldn't achieve it. But then I used one Kural in my every blog post . New Year Resolution List: For year 2016, I should shorten it to at least 1/3 of this list. At least, make it more readable ;) Reading Books: Book reading is going to be reduced this year. I am planning to reread few of the books I read last year. Of course, will find time to read books suggested by friends. I have got Bhagavad Gita tamil version from my friend and might read this before the end of 2015. I Am Malala, The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ, Mossad, 'The Madman, The Forerunner, Spirits Rebellious', Yudhargal Varalaarum Vaazkaiyum, If You Meet The Buddha On The Road Kill Him are few of the books I enjoyed reading. By the way, I have changed the FB album title from "Books I read" to "Books I read - Not To Be Shared" ;) Accounting: How difficu...

My Book Shelf - Year 2017

I find it difficult to get this reading order. And I guess it would be still harder to read them without changing the order. I may allow one or two new books to be included in this list, if required. Share book reviews and ratings with Kovil Pillai, and even join a book club on Goodreads.
