New Year Resolution

These are not my new year resolutions. I am just compiling them now (either already started or will start them soon).

2012:
  • "Thank you, God" is the everyday prayer.
  • I started reading "மின்மினிகளால் ஒரு கடிதம்" but completed only "ஏழு தலைமுறைகள்" in year 2011. I really wanted to read more books and at least 6 is the target.
  • I shouldn't buy any non-Tamil books this year.
  • I am planning to start avoid attending weddings and birthday functions.
  • There are lots of sermons available on the net. I'll listen to at least few of them or anything spiritual(either for or against), once in two weeks.
  • Hoping to continue the digital diary.
  • At least one email to you this year, of course, apart from the one you read now.
  • One blog per month, no promise though!
  • Reduce non-veg, coffee. No TV.
  • It is been few years since I wanted to draw cartoon like pictures. It is a high priority one this year
  • Though it frustrates at times, I will try to check Facebook between 15-30 mins per day, as almost all of my friends communicating through it. Of course, I will still miss many. I shall avoid watching videos shared in FB.

2011:
  • "God, I thank you for everything" is going to be the ONLY prayer for 2011
  • Need to sleep at least 6 hours per day and 45 hours per week
  • Aashayein, Peepli Live, Leader,  Lahore, Kalavani, Lafangey Parindey, Angaadi Theru, Kajraare - movies I enjoyed watching in year 2011. Will choose and watch few more this year too. Will try one tech video per two weeks this year
  • Time slots for email checking, restricted. No urgent information through email
  • Should try my hand in drawing (just with pen and pencil)
  • Not a promise but at least one blog per month
  • Have to send one email to a person per day, exclusively thinking of that person, whom I can't meet/speak for at least a month.
  • I am looking for vertical strip t-shirt for the past two months. I couldn't get the one I wanted. Will search for it.
  • And trying to get a coffee-mug with star sign and quote printed. About 20 shops and three weeks... yet to get it.
  • Life is a game. Winning is honestly giving the best of what I can give at the very moment. Will play the game innocently, intelligently.

2010:
  • Fitness
  • No TV
  • Read minimum 6 books
  • Watching tech/non-tech videos at the rate of at least one in two weeks
  • Let people to make me to listen to them
  • At least one blog per month
  • Spend 1 or 2 "continuous" hours at the end of the day to ensure that my Inbox is empty. Thanks to Thunderbird for making it easier.
  • Too good are my school and college friends, shall find the missed ones.
  • Simple drawing: like cartoons with paper and pen.  No promise, no serious efforts.
  • பல முகங்கள் வேண்டும் - சரி - மாட்டிக்கொள்வோம்.
  • No promise: Digital diary

My Book Shelf - Year 2017

I find it difficult to get this reading order. And I guess it would be still harder to read them without changing the order. I may allow one or two new books to be included in this list, if required. Share book reviews and ratings with Kovil Pillai, and even join a book club on Goodreads.

The Power Game

Even if you count from the Homo sapiens time, it has been half a million years and from the caveman life to the one who attempts to control the universe, the progress is tremendous. A number of struggles that we have overcome are unimaginable. I am still not convinced whether all these are part of the Divine plan or the Nature adjusts (if at all something is required) itself to any change that takes place in it. As long as we believe in science, we can truly appreciate our power and the things we have achieved. The oldest of the power struggles can be the one between men and women. It is perhaps so subtle that we can’t even call it a power struggle. While we manage to fight against external things, this is something happening in our own race, and we haven’t had an answer yet. A coffee selling 10 times costlier than the price of it in a decade ago may mean the coffee price has been raised. But when you compare it with the price of everything, it is relatively the same. If you look ...
